The Dutch Grand Prix was a disastrous race for a team such as Ferrari and has forced their team principal Mattia Binotto to acknowledge the fact that there is something wrong they must address before its too late to fix anything.

They have committed several blunders, one in almost every race and the Dutch Grand Prix was no exception. After Carlos Sainz was brought in for his first pit stop, the mechanics screwed up and his stop lasted for more than 12 seconds which cost him a possible podium position. The numerous range of errors made by the Ferrari team have quite possibly cost them the championship this season.

“I think the key has been the fact that we have not been fast enough. If you look at the qualifying pace of yesterday, we were hoping for a better result today, but the speed and performance of the car was not great,” said Mattia Binotto on his analysis of the Dutch Grand Prix.

Mattia Binotto has been Ferrari’s team principal for almost four years running and during that period the team has not come close to winning a championship despite having the resources to do so. The 52 year old Italian was appointed team principal in 2019, replacing Maurizio Arrivabene.

Binotto is no doubt an excellent engineer as is seen in the cars he had an hand in designing. However, despite having the necessary resources this year to win a championship, the Italian team has undoubtedly botched their own chances in the contention for championship by making too many blunders during the race.

Several fans have called Mattia’s competency into question and believe if he is unable to produce results, his job could come under threat with fans calling for a change in management. With 7 races left on the calendar it is quite possible that Ferrari can make a comeback if they execute the correct strategies and prevent making more silly mistakes on track.
