“They have a superior development capacity,” Mattia Binotto reveals the team he fears more than Mercedes

After years of investment and development, Ferrari developed the F1-75 for the 2022 season, and what a job have they done in creating it. The Maranello-based team has created an all-around package and is the team to beat this year.
So far, they have only been challenged by Red Bull. In terms of reliability, they’ve thrown away Red Bull far too behind and helped Charles Leclerc to capitalize on the situation and gain an impressive lead over Max Verstappen early in the season.
Mattia Binotto, Ferrari’s team principal, when asked which of the two- Red Bull or Mercedes does he fear more, answered Red Bull to Corriere. The boss reasoned by saying, “Red Bull has a superior development capacity.” This statement does sound strange, given how Mercedes has always boasted one of the strongest and largest workforce and factories.
Mattia Binotto says Ferrari won’t be happy with a single title
Red Bull, in 2021, became the team other than Mercedes in the hybrid era, whose driver had won a drivers’ championship, but the team, despite all its efforts, couldn’t beat Mercedes in the constructors’ championship. This season, Ferrari is aiming for both.
Mattia Binotto, on being asked if they’d be happy with only the drivers’ title, answered, “We couldn’t be, the constructors’ championship represents the solidity of a team. To understand: a drivers’ title would be extraordinary, but I think our goal goes further,” which goes on to show the efforts and the kind of investment that the team has done beyond the capital.
With the form in which Ferrari appears to be, its credentials are strong enough for the title. Running on top of both the drivers’ and the constructors’ championships, they are already planning on running away with them.
