With a whirlwind start to the 2022 Formula 1 season, fans have recognized Ferrari and Red Bull are the top teams right now, who might have a chance of clinching the much-coveted-for Constructors’ Championship title. Many motorsport enthusiasts and F1 pundits have weighed in on the debate of who is likely to come up to the top of the grid for winning the Championship title, and former F1 driver Jenson Button is now joining the squad to predict the results for the upcoming races of this season.
Leading up to the Miami Grand Prix, there is much speculation about who will win the Drivers’ Championship title this year as Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc have both won two race titles each till now. Stuttgart-based team Mercedes have underperformed in the opening races even though George Russell have still maintained his top 5 position in the Drivers’ Championship standings till now.
Lewis Hamilton had a disastrous weekend at Imola, giving rise to some rumors amongst the fans that he might be jumping ship as the Mercedes car is not at par with its rivals in this season. But the Briton put an end to the opinions by saying he is not leaving his team any time soon, and he promised he will come back stronger and faster in Miami within a few weeks.
“I’m massively surprised”: Jenson Button has great opinions for Ferrari as their SF-75 impresses the former F1 Champion
Scuderia Ferrari is one of the few teams in the history of Formula 1 that have a long history in the sport, but they performed poorly in 2020 and 2021 as the team had focused all their funds for developing a perfect car for the 2022 season of F1. Now that their SF-75 has been deemed the fastest car on the track, it has helped Charles Leclerc has picked up two race wins in the four Grand Prix’s that have happened till now.
Speaking about Ferrari’s great performance in the first few races of 2022, Jenson Button said, “I’m massively surprised. They’ve done a great job. And I don’t think I see it changing anytime soon… Ferrari still has more time in the wind tunnel than Mercedes, as does Red Bull. So it’s going to be tricky for Mercedes to come back.“
Going into the fifth race of this season in Miami, both Charles Leclerc of Ferrari and Max Verstappen of Red Bull have two race wins to their names, and a lot of expectations to live up to. What remains to be seen is who comes up as the Miami Grand Prix winner as fans are expecting a wheel-to-wheel battle between the two Championship contenders.
