Kevin Magnussen and Daniel Ricciardo collide in Brazil

The start of the Brazil GP was filled with drama which proved in turn to be a rollercoaster end to the weekend for Haas’s Kevin Magnussen as he had a collision with McLaren exiting driver Daniel Ricciardo. Kevin had gone on to put his car on pole on Friday during the Qualifying session at Interlagos. With it being a sprint weekend, the Danish driver was starting the sprint race from P1 which had never happened before in the American team’s history.

It was a start to the race as George Russell and Lewis Hamilton maintained their lead while Daniel Ricciardo went on to tap the rear right wheel of Kevin Magnussen which in turn made the Danish driver spin. It wasn’t over for the McLaren driver as Magnussen further spun round and backed into Daniel and both the drivers went on to collide and failed to finish the race before it even started properly.

After being hit by Ricciardo, Kevin Magnussen suffered from suspension damage leading to his retirement. Daniel Ricciardo’s car was totalled so there was no chance of him recovering from that. Both the drivers seemed to be okay after the crash but this wasn’t the case for their respective cars. Here is how the fans went on and about with their opening lap collection.

As crazy as it sounds, this has happened before. Back in the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix, the drivers came into contact where Daniel Ricciardo spun Kevin Magnussen out while trying to overtake. Only difference was the places where the incident occurred. However there was much more drama taking place further down during the race. This races has truly been one of the most hectic ones in the recent few weeks as the penultimate race of the season comes to an end.
