“Understanding this car was so confusing,” Lewis Hamilton recalls his struggles with the W-13

Lewis Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton has now covered a safe distance to say this season has been his worst season in the last 15 years. Mercedes started off their season with a very car not even touching the rear ends of Red Bull and Ferrari. They had a good fight with Haas at the start and looked like a deep midfield team. But Mercedes reckons to solve all their misery at the end of the first half of the season.
Lewis Hamilton went through tough times with back aches, less confidence in the car, and missing out on pace. But it wasn’t the driver it was the car. Mercedes stated its trouble with porpoising at the start of the season giving their driver aches all over the body. Mercedes got a good jump at Spain but then declined again for their problems.
But Mercedes have now found a way to work ahead making their car worth driving. Lewis Hamilton also opens up about his car being able to fight the way now. “The beginning of the year was not miserable, because there could always be way worse, but just in terms of… I would say from a driver’s perspective, understanding this car was… so confusing. We were trying to advance [but you had] no trust in the machine beneath you, particularly like the rear end. And that really kind of held us back a little bit, “ said Lewis.
Lewis Hamilton’s first half of the season

Lewis Hamilton has had a season that he might remember forever now. With 13 races done he still hasn’t been on the top of the podium, this is the most number of races he has seen himself outside a winning contest.
He also found himself out of points a number of times and even was disqualified in Q3 when the season started. Finishing on the podium makes the driver and his team happy which is completely different from the last few seasons.
But last few races, the 37-year-old looks to have recognized what he is supposed to do as a seven-time world champion. Lewis has finished the last five races on the podium and is not much behind Carlos Sainz and George Russell, his teammate, only thing he looks for in the second half of the season is to take back the lead ahead.
