F1 fans have taken to Reddit to debate about the recent inflation of prices in Singapore in light of the upcoming race at the Marina Bay Circuit. There are mixed feelings among the fans with comments such as, “Marina Bay Sands was already $800/night on a normal day. It’s not a surprise…”

Another comment stated, “I booked my hotel room a few months ago for ~£60 per night. This is not as bad of an issue as people are making out,” there are quite a few fans who are not surprised by the price hike and have stated, “Pretty normal I think. I remember my dad going in a business trip to Singapore probably 10 years ago and how he was so confused as to why the hotel prices were so crazy expensive and he didn‘t even book a „nice“ hotel. Until he noticed that the F1 race was on.”

There have been those against it and have made comments such as, “I can’t believe hotels are raising their prices to make more money in light of F1 returning to the country after 3 years,” and, “So are there any races left that I can go to that won’t cost me a few months salary? Like what’s the best experience left for a normal, middle class fan?”

The mixed reactions by the fans towards this piece of news are stunning but go to show that there are fans who are devoted to the sport of F1 and would travel a long way to watch it.
