Charles Leclerc, the Ferrari F1 driver, had an outing to remember at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez Circuit for a plethora of reasons. While he managed to end his exploits in a brilliant P3, he was at the center of massive booing from the fans for his lap collision with Sergio Perez.

As the lights went out at the Mexican Grand Prix, Sergio Perez got off to a tremendous start from his P5 starting position. Moreover, going into Turn 1 he was neck and neck with Leclerc, but unfortunately, the duo made contact and that meant the end of the Grand Prix for Perez.

At the end of the race, Leclerc was massively booed by the fans, and while giving his post-race interview, he took a moment to acknowledge the fan’s extreme reaction and said:

Guys I had nowhere to go, so I was a bit between the two Red Bulls and unfortunately, I touched Checo but I had nowhere to go.

Looking at the reaction of the Monegasque, it is quite clear that he believes there was no room for him to go into during the lap 1 incident with the home hero. He was sandwiched between two Red Bulls and thus couldn’t really do anything to avoid contact with a fast-approaching Perez.

Charles Leclerc can go into the remainder of the 2023 campaign high on confidence

While Charles Leclerc was not a fan favorite at the iconic Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez F1 circuit, he can carry a lot of confidence from the event into the remainder of the 2023 campaign. The 71-lap race was not easy to manage but despite all the challenges, Leclerc was able to come away with a much-deserved third-place finish.

Moreover, with only three races remaining in the season, the Monegasque would be itching to score at least one Grand Prix win. Red Bull has dominated this year’s campaign but on occasions, has shown that there could arise a chink in their armor every now and then.

Ferrari’s SF-23 has kept on improving in terms of performances since the last few races, and considering this, Charles Leclerc will have his eyes set on doing something special in the remaining races. The inaugural Las Vegas GP is just around the corner and that could prove to be the perfect setting for Leclerc to attain his targets.
