Jost Capito, Ceo and Team principal of Williams racing, clear out all the questions about a mid-season change in the driver lineup, saying he supports Nicolas Latifi and he will have the seat as per his contracts.
Nicolas Latifi isn’t having the best start of his season. With a turnover after the last season, Abu Dhabi Grand Prix nothing much has changed as he still keeps on making the mistakes he did. After George Russell, his ex-teammate was promoted to Mercedes this year, he got into a new pair with Alex Albon.

Latifi and Haas’s Mick Schumacher are the only ones with no points yet this season excluding Nico Hulkenberg. But the new Alex Albon has three points already for the team.
After all the bad performances by the Canadian had a risk of losing his seat as per the rumours but in an interview with SPORT1 magazine AvD Motor & Sport the boss showed some confidence and said there won’t be any mid-season changes with their lineup “We have contracts with both drivers and we respect them,”.
Jost Capito on possible replacements if needed in the future
As per the rumours about a possible replacement for that Latifi’s seat, there were a couple of drivers who could be in touch with the CEO to start a career in Formula 1 in the future.
Mercedes’ Formula E and reserve Formula 1 driver, Nyck de Vries, could be an optimal gainer for the seat with his experience fighting for the championship. Even though he was said to be in contact with the Williams team for the other seat, later given to Alex, his name reappeared after the rumours of Latifi losing his seat

Alpines reserve driver and Formula 2 champion Oscar Piastri was also mentioned among the rumours for a possible replacement. Capito even mentioned Piastri and was confident the driver will get a seat in Formula 1 next season “I am sure that he will be in Formula 1 next season,” Capito predicted.
As the current situation stands team will be going with the current driver lineup and also saw an improvement with the qualification times of Latifi, which was only a few tenths slower than his teammate.
