Zak Brown is always on the lookout for an opportunity to make McLaren bigger and better by the day. There have been a massive overhaul in regulations in F1 which has present the Woking based team with an opportunity. We all know that amidst this climate crisis, there have been continuous efforts from leaders across to make all the activities more sustainable and F1 has taken their lead to work in conformity with that project.

FIA has made it clear that they want to achieve a target of ‘net zero carbon footprint’ by the year 2030 and there have been decisions taken to make it a reality rather than just being written on a piece of paper. F1 has moved to using E10 fuel which a combination of 90% fossil fuel and 10% ethanol. It’s pretty clear that a paradigm shift in the working of the sport is definitely on the cards.

This has given rise to other sustainable events around the world like the World Endurance Championship. McLaren has been one of the interested teams, after they acquired Mercedes’ Formula E operation, to enter the competition. That’s because if the competition fares out well, it could definitely open up an electric vehicles market for McLaren. But the team hasn’t taken a call on their entry.

But, Zak Brown has confirmed that the decision will taken sooner rather than later. He said, “We are a fan of that championship. I think right now, we need to be totally focused on getting Formula E integrated and up and running.”

“I think with how World Endurance is playing out, we are comfortable that we still have time to make a decision if we were to enter in the ’24/’25 season.”

“I think if we were to go to World Endurance it would be in some way shape or form connected to our automotive business.

“So that will be something we will need to make a decision on this year,” as reported by gpfans.

McLaren see the championship as a huge marketing play but wants to be sure if the championship is attracting the crowd before they make a decision on that issue. But, it’s definitely a step in the right director for F1 and motorsport races across the world.
