The Abu Dhabi GP does not have a long history in the sport as it only made its debut in the year 2009. Moreover, when it comes to the team that has seen the most success at the event, it is none other than the mighty Mercedes F1 team.

Mercedes, over the years, has amassed 6 Grand Prix wins at the Circuit and Lewis Hamilton is the driver who has got the most number of individual wins with 5 to his name.

However, when it comes to the lap record, it is currently held by Red Bull’s starlet, Max Verstappen. The Dutchman has a lap timing of 1.26.103 which he attained last year driving the RB16B.

While Mercedes proved to be the World beater at the track between 2014-2019, the Red Bull team has managed to get the better of the Silver Arrows on the last two occasions.

The 2022 Drivers and Constructors debate has already been put to bed by Red Bull and Max Verstappen, but heading into the last race of the current campaign, there is still a lot to play for, as fas the other teams and drivers are concerned.

The second position in the Drivers standings is to be decided at the Abu Dhabi GP as going into the event, Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez are tied on 290 points.

Moreover, Ferrari could lose its second place in the Constructors Championship to Mercedes if they don’t manage to do the perfect race with both its cars. The Maranello-based team is only 19 points ahead of Mercedes going into Abu Dhabi.

While the second place in both Championships is yet to be decided, there are many other battles that people are going to have their eye on at the event.
