Williams follows Red Bull’s suit and brings major upgrades to their F1 car

Williams FW44
Williams seems to have adopted the same upgrade plan for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone as Red Bull and other Formula One teams. So far in 2022, the RB18 has proven to be effective. Aston Martin has adopted a similar strategy with their idea, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has said Mercedes is thinking about adopting a similar strategy, and now Williams appears to have done the very same.
Williams driver Alex Albon will be employing a fresh upgrade package for the Williams FW44 at Silverstone, the team’s home race. Given that there was insufficient time to prepare two shipments at once, Albon’s teammate Nicholas Latifi will receive it after a few races. The Grove-based team, like Mercedes, previously utilised sidepods that were extremely thin and trailed off abruptly, but has since decided to make them significantly larger and stretch them further back.

A number of changes can be expected at Williams

The sidepods have been altered, according to Williams, to offer a decent balancing between cooling capacities and the capacity to control airflow over the front of the car. The team should have more command over the airflow to the back of the car owing to the sidepods.
Modifications to a number of other parts have been made in conjunction to the sidepods. It is Williams’ first significant update of the year. The floor has also changed, but it also features a new front wing. All of this has been done to more effectively direct airflow to the car’s rear.
This is coupled with a revised arrangement of all the cooling components in the FW44’s back. As a result, the cooling slots, or “gills,” have also been given new locations, higher up on the hood. The diffuser has also been modified, which should improve the car’s traction on the road and increase downward force.
