“Winning does not give you friends,” Helmut Marko distraught at the antics of rival F1 teams against Red Bull
Red Bull Racing advisor Helmut Marko
Helmut Marko, the Red Bull Team Adviser, after Friday’s practice sessions of the United States Grand Prix talked about Red Bull’s ongoing saga with the FIA and has disappointingly indicated that he is not happy with how the other F1 teams are doing everything to bring the Austrian team down.
The whole debacle started after the recently concluded Japanese Grand Prix when FIA came up with its Financial Regulations Report, which deemed Red Bull in slight breach of the 2021 budget cap.
Moreover, it is a common belief that the breach is around 5 percent over the pre-set limit, and as things stand, Red Bull and the whole F1 community are waiting as to how the situation is going to further develop.
It’s been around two weeks since FIA released its report, but so far, nothing concrete has come out of their offices regarding the penalties that might get imposed on the Milton-Keynes-based team.
A lot has been made of the situation in the media, but just like Red Bull, no one is sure what the future has in store for them.
Helmut Marko’s take on not getting support from other F1 teams
Ever since the Red Bull budget cap overspending news has come out to the public, the team bosses of various F1 teams have been coming forward and stating their opinions.
Ahead of the United States GP, people like Toto Wolff and Zak Brown asked the FIA to impose strict punishments on Red Bull for their 2021 budget cap breach.
Moreover, while talking about how the various teams have been talking about Red Bull’s situation, Marko after FP2 said, “Winning does not give you friends.”
Helmut Marko is not pleased by the antics of various F1 teams and believes that they should be more considerate before talking about the situation openly.
Christian Horner, the Red Bull Team Principal met with the FIA President, Mohammed Ben Sulayem to discuss the budget cap issue, and Marko has confirmed that the team is waiting for a response from the FIA.
Considering that the Austrian Team is waiting for something solid to come out from the FIA’s side regarding the situation, at the moment, the ball is in the FIA’s court, and Helmut Marko and Co. can only wait until the controlling body of the sport comes out with something definitive.
How do you see the situation developing during the remaining two days of the United States Grand Prix?
