“Yeah it is very odd,” Paul Di Resta shocked by Oscar Piastri’s transfer drama
Oscar Piastri
Oscar Piastri had a roller coaster ride yesterday after he was declared a Formula 1 driver for about 45 mins. Alpine last night announced Oscar as their second driver for the 2023 season. But things didn’t look smooth for the French team as Oscar about an hour after clarified no signing with the team and confirmed himself with no seat next season. The whole Formula 1 world enjoyed the confusion and so did Paul Di Resta.
Oscar’s move or so-called Non-move was triggered by a chain reaction led by Sebastian Vettel. Sebastian Vettel announced his retirement after ending his career with Aston Martin. This announcement left Aston with no replacements to bear so they took charge of another world champion Fernando Alonso.
Fernando decided to move on from the French team into the British hand joining Aston. This move gave a clear chance for Oscar to get in the Alpine but the young driver seems to deny it. Paul Di Resta termed all the mess as odd and termed this season as a very “Silly” one.
“Yeah it is very odd. I think the whole paddock was caught by surprise yesterday going into summer break when the silly season starts with driver contracts,” said Paul.
Paul Di Resta estimates Oscar Piastri to have another team on his hand
Oscar is doubted to have another contract in his hand, stating that as a clear answer for his denial of a Formula 1 seat. He is expected to be in talks with McLaren to move ahead with his career and so does Paul Di Resta.
“Now, that statement that he has put out, I find it very surprising that he is rejecting a team that is in the top four and a great upward trajectory, that you wouldn’t want to drive for them. That can only mean that he has got another seat secured somewhere else,” Di Resta continued.
Alpine still hasn’t opened up with the chaos and neither has Mark Webber, Oscar’s mentor. McLaren already stated their intent to stick with Daniel Ricciardo for the upcoming season but things don’t take time to change in Formula 1.
