Mattia Binotto has come under extreme pressure after the Hungarian Grand Prix but former F1 driver Felipe Massa believes that it is not right to blame Binotto. However, the Brazilian has accepted that the Ferrari team Principal is partly responsible for the downward spiral of the team.

Ferrari got its 2022 season to a spectacular start in Bahrain where they managed a 1-2 finish but as the season has progressed they have stumbled dramatically and some of it has been down to the poor strategic calls that the Ferrari pit wall has made in the season.

Red Bull after 13 rounds, is in a commanding position in both the Championships whereas Mercedes has managed to close the gap to the struggling Ferrari. The Maranello-based team has inflicted a lot of self-damage and this has cost them valuable points in their fight against the mighty Red Bull.

The Ferrari team Principal has been the talk of the town in recent times and Ralf Schumacher has even stated that he is expecting Mattia Binotto to resign.

While Binotto has come under heavy scrutiny, Felipe Massa while sharing his thoughts regarding the situation of Binotto has said, “He is a very good engineer and also a very good guy.”

He understands a lot about the technical side of the sport. And as I said, he’s a good guy.

However, Massa understands that results haven’t been great and has further added, “At the end of the day, the results are not right and even if you can’t blame him completely, he is partly responsible.

Massa has a wealth of experience when it comes to Formula One and has shared some words of wisdom for the Ferrari team, “Ferrari needs to be calmer when making decisions and understand what is going on because of the mistakes in strategy that were made at the beginning of the season are still being made today. He needs to turn the tide quickly, otherwise, he may have to pay the price.

Massa has blatantly admitted that the Italian team is making the same mistakes that they made earlier in the season and believes that if they want to get back in the Championship fight then something has to give.

Moreover, if things don’t improve soon, then it could be Mattia Binotto who might get asked to walk out of the door. Is Mattia Binotto’s position at Ferrari really under threat? Would he be able to survive till the end of the season?
