Sergio Perez has crashed out of the 2023 Mexican Grand Prix. He came to the track with a lot of optimism about having a solid race in front of his home fans, however, his race did not even last until the first corner. Going into Turn1, Perez collided with Charles Leclerc and sustained race-ending damage on his RB19.
While Sergio Perez is currently in the pits dwelling on what could have been, former F1 champion turned analyst Damon Hill has sympathized with him, the latter feels that it is heartbreaking to see the 33-year-old crash out of the home race on the very first lap of the 71-lap Grand Prix.

While sharing his thoughts, Hill admitted that he feels for the Mexican. Looking at the comments, it is quite clear that Hill is very disappointed with how Perez’s outing ended in front of home fans.
You have to feel for the poor chap. He tried, but I think the dream of leading on the first lap was like was like a siren calling him onto the rocks. I know the feeling.

Sergio Perez was in high spirits throughout the ongoing Mexican GP weekend but with his race-ending crash, there is almost a pin-drop silence around the Autodromo Hermanos Rodrigues F1 circuit. Moreover, some fans were even caught crying over Perez’s Lap 1 exit.
Sergio Perez needs to massively step up his game in the remaining events this year
While Sergio Perez is currently viewing the Mexican Grand Prix from the comforts of the F1 paddock, he and his fans are extremely disappointed. The ongoing event was a great opportunity for him to get his mojo back for the remainder of the 2023 Formula 1 season.

However, what’s done is done and there is nothing that anyone can do about it. Looking ahead, Perez has now got only three opportunities left where he can show that he still belongs at the pinnacle of motor racing. From the Brazilian GP onwards, he really can’t afford any more slip-ups.
An unfortunate start for Checo in his home race as he clashes with LEC in lap 1?

Sergio Perez has several times admitted that he wants to keep racing in F1 for Red Bull, but considering his never-ending woeful F1 form, Christian Horner and Co. could get tempted to off-load him during the winter break. Even if Perez can continue for next year, there is a common belief that he will be shown the exit door ahead of 2025.
