Zak Brown and Christian Horner
The F1 world was stunned when it was leaked that an investigation against Red Bull supremo Christian Horner was underway. Many famous personnel from the F1 landscape reacted to this investigation in various ways. Previously, Toto Wolff reacted on the same, and now McLaren’s team principal Zak Brown has given his reaction to the same.
Red Bull’s parent company launched an investigation against their F1 team boss amidst claims of him behaving ‘inappropriately’. Now, key F1 figures have commented on the issue demanding more transparency by the team on the matter as it is affecting F1’s image as a whole.
As FIA and Formula One has said, they need to handle it swiftly because I don't believe these are the type of headlines that Formula One wants or needs at this time. I just think it's important that it's handled in a transparent way in which there is no doubt and no doubt whatsoever that it has been handled appropriately and whatever the conclusion is that that conclusion is handled in an appropriate, transparent manner.Zak Brown said as reported by express.co.uk
The American had stated that such headlines for the sport are not healthy. The 52-year-old claimed that a transparent and fast verdict on the situation could save the sport’s image from tarnishing more. This falls in line with what other paddock members had stated. Subsequently, this creates pressure on the reigning champions to release a verdict soon, as now other teams and F1 itself have entered the scene.
What are Zak Brown’s views on the 2024 season?
The American has been leading the team since its restructuring a few years back. Brown has led the team from being a lower-midfield team to even fighting for podiums at some races last year. McLaren’s boss has now given his views on the upcoming season.
Our hopes, our goals, our ambition is definitely to take a step forward. We finished fourth in the championship last year but in the second half of the year we were the second or third quickest team. So our ambition is to move forward from there. We see no reason why… we can’t be winning races at some point over the year. So lots of podiums and some wins or certainly the ambition.Zak Brown said as reported by grandprix247.com
Last year, the team scored nine podiums after starting the year on the back foot. The team now aspires to beat the winning forces of F1 and take the challenge up to Red Bull. Brown feels confident that the team will be able to fight for wins and podiums across the season.
The team now prepares itself for the upcoming season opener in Bahrain next week. McLaren’s drivers would be eager to get the taste of the new machinery in a race setting, and would like to challenge for the top spots.
