Aston Martin will be one of the major talking points in the 2025 F1 season. The Silverstone-based squad has recently signed some key technicians to elevate the team’s competitiveness. The most notable signing was ex-Red Bull aerodynamicist, Adrian Newey, as Aston Martin boss Lawrence Stroll convinced the Briton to join. He emphasized the team’s vision and growing partnership with Honda (set to provide engines from 2026), which convinced the aero-genius to join the team.

Former F1 driver Nico Rosberg voiced his concerns about Aston Martin’s strategy of signing key figures. He suggested that signing big names like Adrian Newey, Enrico Cardile, and Dan Fallows may not guarantee success. Rosberg emphasized that teamwork is crucial for winning championships. The 39-year-old drew a parallel with PSG’s 2021 football season, where despite having star players like Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe, they still struggled to win the Champions League. He warned that Aston Martin could face the same problems if their new top hires don’t work well together.

Look at PSG in football. They had Messi, Neymar and Mbappe, all three at the same time. Three of the best players in the world on the pitch and the others were very good as well. They never won the Champions League. It’s great to have the best minds and the best managers on board. However, they still need to gel, because you’re only as good as when everyone works together.

Nico Rosberg told Soymotor

To improve the car’s competitiveness, Aston Martin needs strong teamwork among its new hires and existing members. Each expert, from designers to engineers, must collaborate closely, ensuring all ideas and strategies align. They must ensure their driver is comfortable with the designs and setups they’ve provided for them to perform.

Rosberg believes that while Newey’s experience offers valuable direction, he alone can’t create a race-winning car. Success will depend on the team’s unity, sharing insights, and building a united team capable of delivering results.

Adrian Newey alone is not going to be able to make that car a winner, he needs the rest of the team. It’s clear that he can give them good direction, he can be a good guide, but he needs the rest of the team to shine with him.

Nico Rosberg stated.

Aston Martin could struggle to build a family-like atmosphere

Nico Rosberg asserts that the Silverstone-based squad will face challenges from 2025 onwards as they strive to work cohesively. He draws a parallel with PSG, noting that while their attacking lineup featured stars like Messi, Neymar, and Mbappé, their lack of defensive strength hindered their chances of success. Rosberg emphasizes that achieving championship success requires a perfectly balanced team.

The 39-year-old believes the team needs time to build synergy among technicians and drivers for a cohesive and effective working environment. They need to create a family-like atmosphere, working together towards a common goal instead of relying only on individual talent.

It will certainly be a challenge for them to integrate and make the team a family that all pulls in the same direction.

Nico Rosberg explained.

Adrian Newey will start his duties with Aston Martin from 2025 onwards. The current season remains with only six races until the Briton lands his feet in the Lawrence Stroll-owned team. His main focus will be on developing the car for 2026 where regulatory changes will take place.
