British F2 sensation, Oliver Bearman has announced a new contract with the Haas F1 team, securing a promotion to the pinnacle of motorsport in 2025. Bearman is currently a driver for the F2 Prema Racing and is also the reserve driver for Scuderia Ferrari.

Oliver Bearman has been a flagrant topic of widespread discussion around the grid since his debut run in F1 during this season’s Saudi Arabian GP. Bearman filled in for Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz, who was out of the race in Jeddah because of acute appendicitis and was required to undergo surgery instantly.

Bearman put on a thunderous performance in Jeddah finishing the race P7 despite stepping foot in an F1 car for on a very short notice. The 19-year-old has since been in apparent talks for a move to the grid in the coming year to which a decision was made by Haas to give him a well-deserved shot.

The 19-year-old Prema Racing driver is also set to return to the track for Haas at Silverstone on Friday amidst arising concern for Haas driver Kevin Magnussen, who is currently without a stable lead on his future. The Danish driver will look to give it his all to secure the remaining seat in Haas for 2025, as the future of the 31-year-old still hangs in the balance.

Ayao Komatsu praises Oliver Bearman ahead of 2025 debut

Haas Team Principal, Ayao Komatsu has highlighted the key reasons for the signing of Oliver Bearman, who is set to race for the team in 2025. Komatsu claimed that the 19-year-old is more than capable of racing in F1 given his performance on the track during practice sessions for Haas in the previous seasons.

He’s developed into an incredibly mature driver under the guidance of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy and the world saw that for themselves when he was called in at the last minute to compete at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Oliver proved he was more than ready for the task, and we’ve seen that for ourselves running him in the Haas cars in our FP1 sessions over the past two seasons.

Komatsu has praised the upbringing of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy in developing Oliver Bearman as a mature and skilled driver for the past two seasons. Komatsu further explained that the upcoming FP1 run for Bearman will be a positive thing for the team, given that the 19-year-old is now a long-term associate of the team.

Oliver Bearman is set to make his official debut in the 2025 Australian Grand Prix and has spoken of the intense practice he will be undergoing to hit the ground running in the upcoming year. The Haas F1 team has also claimed that Bearman will receive holistic development under the team’s guidance to become the best version of himself in the upcoming years of his run in F1.
