The FIA’s recent crackdown on drivers using abusive language has been met with massive backlash. The drivers run a risk of facing a potential race ban if found repeatedly offensive. Now, even Oscar Piastri has raised concerns over the newly implemented rule against the drivers using swear words.
Oscar Piastri is rarely spotted losing his head on the team radio during races. The Aussie has a calm candor while driving, despite facing dire situations on the track. However, even Piastri did not sit right with the ban on swear words and talked against it.
Piastri reckoned that drivers could say whatever came into their heads while sitting in the cockpit. Moreover, the Aussie noted that one could just not open their radio and speak their mind. However, the 24-year-old acknowledged that it was ‘fair’ of the FIA to expect the drivers to remain civil outside of the car during public appearances or official conferences.
I think in the car you say whatever comes into your head. Doesn’t necessarily mean you have to open the radio all the time. Outside of the car it’s a fair expectation to be civil and use words appropriately but we’re athletes doing a thing with adrenaline running so there’s only so much you can do to stop that.

Michelin-star chef Gordon Ramsay speaks against FIA’s ban on swear words
Amongst the massive sea of people ill-talking FIA’s crackdown on abusive language, world-class chef Gordon Ramsay spoke against it too. Ramsay spoke against the new regulations live during the F1 75 event and included a swear word himself.

Ramsay insisted that Formula 1 drivers were athletes who pushed themselves to the limits. As a result, it was natural to speak whatever came to their minds. The British chef further highlighted that the drivers risked their lives while driving at extreme speeds. The 58-year-old made a ‘if the s**t hit the fan’ remark but was abruptly cut off by the host.
These athletes push themselves to the extreme, so sometimes when it comes out, let them be real, let it go. They’re risking their life every time, traveling over 200mph per hour. So, if the shit hits the fan-

The FIA would have to consider people’s opinions following such a reaction. However, the governing body seems adamant about controlling the language of the drivers. Hence, time will tell about how the teams and drivers cope with the new regulations against the use of abusive language.
