The Alpine was having a great time around the Monacan circuit after both the drivers cleared Q1. Pierre Gasly even cleared the second part of qualifying to finally score a P10 starting position. Hence, the two drivers would have had a great shot at finally scoring some points and putting an end to the nightmare 2024 start. However, during the accident-laden Lap 1 of the Monaco GP, both the French drivers collided with each other.

Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly had great hopes of scoring some points at the Monaco GP, especially after Alexander Arnold‘s faith in the team. Gasly started the race from P10 while Ocon was just behind him in 11th. During the first lap, Ocon was spotted committing to an extremely risky move to overtake his teammate.

This further clipped Ocon’s rear tire with Gasly’s front tire. The 28-year-old didn’t back down against his teammate to allow him an easy overtake. Hence, this caused Esteban Ocon to gain some air time in the rear of his chassis. Such a risky overtake could’ve caused a quick end to both the Alpine drivers and caused them to gain zero points from the weekend.

Pierre Gasly immediately took to his radio to showcase his dissatisfaction with the risky and unnecessary move. The Monaco GP was supposed to be red-flagged anyway due to the colossal crash in Turn 2. Gasly questioned the reasons behind such a risky move.

What did he do! What did he do! Why did he try to attack me? Oh my gosh!
Pierre Gasly said on his team radio.

Bruno Famin claims Esteban Ocon’s move was completely ‘out of circumstances’

Alpine didn’t like what their two drivers did out on the track. Vice President and Team Princiapl, Bruno Famin accepted that the team was against the risky maneuver out on the track. Famin highlighted that Ocon’s attack was completely out of circumstances. Additionally, the 62-year-old claimed that the team will look into the incident later and take appropriate actions.

I believe that Esteban Ocon's attack was completely out of circumstances, that's exactly what we didn't want to see. We will draw the consequences. We will decide straight away.
Bruno Famin said during an interview.

Apart from this, Famin reckoned that attacking his teammate at the Le Portier corner was completely unnecessary. The two drivers needed to drive calmly around the slim streets of Monaco. Ocon might have even potentially damaged his chassis from the incident.

In the first round at Le Portier, it was not the place to attempt an attack while leaving no room for your teammate.
Bruno Famin noted.

The two drivers will have to continue to work together to achieve the best results possible for the team. Esteban Ocon has already had to retire from the race following multiple damage to the floor. Hence, Gasly will have to push extra hard to hold onto his P10 race start and finally score some points for the team.
