Daniel Ricciardo has had a very shocking start to his 2024 season. The Australian has been convincingly beaten by his Japanese Teammate Yuki Tsunoda in almost every competitive session this year. The former McLaren seems to be really struggling to get the most out of his VCARB cars. Recent reports even suggest that Red Bull has given him a two-race ultimatum to bounce back.
With all this coming down on Daniel Ricciardo, French pundit Fred Ferret has spoken recently to F1 Nation about the driver. According to Ferret, the 34-year-old’s age may be a reason for his dip in form. Moreover, Ferret added that if Ricciardo doesn’t level up his performances, he might be forced to retire because of his age and streak of disappointing performances.

Yuki Tsunoda is performing better. If Daniel doesn't perform better, it's going to be tough for him...When Daniel moved from Red Bull to Renault it took him some time to deliver. When he moved from Renault to McLaren, he never delivered, even if he won [one grand prix]. When he moved from McLaren to [RB] he isn't as impressive as he was. He's getting old and he's not able to come back in every car that he has to drive.Fred Ferret told F1 Nation.
The L’Equipe journalist believes that Daniel Ricciardo’s seat is under threat due to his lack of pace throughout the first few races. With all the pressure on the Honey Badger, only time will tell whether he will bounce back from this dip in form stronger at the upcoming races at Japan and China.
Natalie Pinkham shares insight into Daniel Ricciardo’s chances of bouncing back
Sky Sports F1 pundit Natalie Pinkham has also shared her view on Daniel Ricciardo‘s chances to bounce back this season. Moreover, she believes that Daniel Ricciardo is just taking some time to get to grips with his V-Carb just like he did during his stint at Renault.

Pinkham shared how Ricciardo’s Mclaren stint was tricky because of the car’s characteristics and its instability at the front end. She also believed that Ricciardo was making some good progress in getting to grips with the car, before his crash that caused his wrist injury during the practice sessions at Zandvoort in the latter half of last year.
That McLaren was so difficult to drive. Lando has only ever known that McLaren, he grew with the team. did perform at Renault. He outperformed the car arguably. And he broke his hand at Zandvoort [for AlphaTauri last year]! That was a horrible setback for him. And actually it looked as if he was going to do something in that car, towards the latter half of the season. I'm a fan, a supporter, of his. But I recognise that you've got to put the work in, and get the results. It's a results driven game. But I believe he can do that.Natalie Pinkham said.
Pinkham seems to be pretty confident and hopeful about the Australian’s chances of bouncing back this season. With all the criticism that Daniel Ricciardo has faced this year, Pinkham’s trust will definitely be something that will motivate him to come back stronger and showcase his speed.
