Ralf Schumacher, the younger brother of Michael Schumacher, publicly came out as gay in July 2024. He shared the news on Instagram, posting a photo with his partner, expressing his happiness about finding the right person. However, his past life has not been easy as his son David Schumacher reveals what he had to go through.

Ralf Schumacher married Cora Brinkmann, a former model, and they had a son David Schumacher. Their marriage ended after a long separation involving financial settlements. Ralf’s recent coming out as gay surprised Brinkmann, who felt misled despite previously questioning him about rumors.

Their son, David revealed on social media that Brinkmann, during her struggles with mental illness, often threatened him to stay with her. She warned him that she would ruin his racing career if he didn’t stay with her. The 47-year-old also attempted to separate the 22-year-old from his father against his will.

She threatened me that if I didn’t stay with her, she would destroy my lifelong dream of becoming a racing driver, as her signature would be needed on some documents. One day she wanted to separate me from my father against my will.

David Schumacher explained that the situation escalated so severely one day that even the police intervened. He said Brinkmann repeatedly assaulted Ralf, believing he had influenced their son against her. However, the 49-year-old always encouraged Schumacher Jr to maintain a close relationship with his mother. Despite this, the 22-year-old, frustrated and wanting to focus on his racing career, chose to leave his mother’s care.

The argument escalated to the point where we had to call the police because she started beating him non-stop. My father has always done everything he could to ensure that I had a good relationship with her.

Despite Ralf Schumacher’s efforts to foster a positive relationship between his son and wife, the 22-year-old deemed his mother’s behavior as shameful. He firmly stated that he wanted to be left alone with his father so they could live their lives, while she could live hers separately.

I want to send her a message: your behavior right now is a real shame. Please leave us alone and let us live our lives. And we will leave you alone too.

David Schumacher stated that, although social media isn’t the right place for family matters, his frustration forced him to speak out. He explained that Brinkmann’s behavior deeply affected him and his father, leading to his disappointment. Everything led the 22-year-old to feel compelled to share his perspective openly.
