Red Bull has been on a dominating run in Formula One since the 2022 season. The Milton-Keynes outfit has secured three consecutive drivers’ championships since 2021 and is currently leading the title race this season as well.
Unlike previous years, many teams have come to the front with their strong performances this season. McLaren, Mercedes, and Ferrari have won seven races collectively, entailing a very competitive campaign this time around.
Red Bull Technical Director Pierre Waché has thereafter shed light on the team’s advantage this season. Waché has said that the Milton-Keynes outfit might be unsure of their strong points given the increased competitiveness on the grid this campaign.
I don't know if we still have a strong point!Pierre Waché said to Motorsport-Netherlands
The reigning world champions have been winless since the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix. They will now hope to work on achieving greater pace and downforce in the inconsistent RB20 in time for the Dutch Grand Prix in August.
Ex-F1 driver deems Sergio Perez’s stay at Red Bull as unbelievable
Former Dutch motorsport racer Giedo van der Garde has harshly critiqued Sergio Perez for his poor result at the Belgian GP. Perez started the race in P2 but dropped down to P7 after a woeful afternoon in Spa.
I find it unbelievable. I think it is a choice that is not Red Bull-like. Red Bull never gives someone such a long chance if they do not perform. If you are allowed to start second in Spa and you finish seventh… The speed in the race was simply bad.Giedo van der Garde said on the DRS podcast
Van der Garde claimed that Sergio Perez‘s pace was simply bad around the free-flowing 7.004-kilometer-long circuit. The Dutch driver was also critical of Red Bull’s decision to offer Perez prolonged chances despite his botched form since 2023.
The Christian Horner-led outfit confirmed the Mexican’s stay with the team at least until the end of the ongoing season earlier this week. The six-time race winner will now hope to prove his worth by trying to perform better in the remaining races of the campaign.
