Red Bull driver Sergio Perez is undergoing a tough spell in his Formula 1 career. Having won his last race at Baku in 2023, the Mexican faces immense pressure to deliver good results in order to save his seat for 2025.
Sergio Perez joined the Milton-Keynes-based team in 2021 and was a stellar performer that season. His struggles began at the start of 2023, which raised doubts regarding his competency and skill in the minds of many.
Despite all criticisms, Perez has confidently said that many drivers would be pleased to have the same career as him. The 34-year-old has amassed a total of six race wins and 39 podiums in his career so far.
Perez is currently on a contract with Red Bull until the end of 2026. He has, however, failed to conform to the performance clauses in his contract so far. A continuance of this would make the Mexican liable to be sacked ahead of the start of next season.
Sergio Perez deems Franco Colapinto worthy of 2025 Sauber seat
Williams Racing driver Franco Colapinto made his debut at the Italian GP this year after Logan Sargeant‘s sacking. The Argentine has since made great progress at the pinnacle of motorsport in only three races so far.
Sergio Perez hopes for Colapinto to land a permanent role on the grid with Audi-owned Sauber in 2025. The Mexican claims that a return to Formula 2 after half a season in F1 would be detrimental to the Argentine’s career.
With very few seats left for the upcoming campaign, Colpainto must up his game to catch eyes of the teams. The last six races will be crucial for him as he dreams of making a full-time step at the pinnacle of motorsport.
