The 2024 Spanish GP didn’t turned out well for Sergio Perez. The Mexican driver finished at 8th position in Saturday’s qualifying session with 0.678 seconds behind pole-sitter Lando Norris. On Sunday, He started from the eighth position and finished in the same position, scoring only four points for the team, while his teammate Max Verstappen won the race.

Sergio Perez is optimistic about the upcoming weekend in Austria. He reckoned everything is set for more smoother and successful event . Checo said that Red Bull hae identified the areas where he needs to improve and has planned specific changes to make these improvements happen. This has built confidence within the team, that these adjustments made will lead to a better performance overall.

This weekend in Austria we have everything in place to have a cleaner weekend, the team and I know where we must improve and make changes and we will implement them.

Perez said it’s his job to get the best performance out of the car. He reckoned that since it’s the sprint weekend, there will be less time for practice, so he will need to make the most of the first practice session itself. Checo has planned to attack from the start during both the qualifying and sprint races to get the best possible outcome. He believed, by maximizing limited time on the track, he aims to ensure the car performs at it’s peak.

The 34-year-old claimed, the team struggled to keep the car’s setup consistent and within the optimal range for qualifying or racing the way they wanted to. Sergio Perez added that the penalty on starting grid set him back. This made it difficult for Checo, to achieve his desired performance levels in both qualifying and the actual race. The penalty, compounded these issues and made the race even more challenging for Red Bull and Perez.

We couldn’t get the set-up consistent and in a window for qualifying or to race the race we wanted, the grid place penalty also harmed us.
