Sergio Perez once again failed to deliver. The Red Bull driver had a lackluster performance at the Mexican GP last weekend. He has now failed to secure a podium in over 14 races, with his last being in Shanghai earlier this year.

Sergio Perez‘s future with the Milton Keynes-based team hangs in the balance despite having a contract until the end of 2026. The 34-year-old has been in poor form for the team since the previous season.

Perez has thereafter deemed the race in Mexico as the most disappointing weekend of this campaign. He wished to perform well and was upset about letting down his teams and his home fans in Mexico.

Mexico was the most disappointing weekend of my season. I wanted to have a special weekend and as a Team, we didn’t walk away with what we deserved. We need more from my car to start to compete more and that’s got to be the aim before Brazil.

Sergio Perez said ahead of the Brazilian GP

The Mexican driver has urged Red Bull to make bigger increments in improving the pace of the car ahead of Sao Paulo. Time now runs short for Perez, who will be seeking to prove his worth to the rest of the grid from here on.

Martin Brundle has raised concerns over Perez’s ability to be a fruitful driver for Red Bull. He claims that the 34-year-old’s contract stands as the only assurance of him staying in Formula 1 next season. Brundle also stated that the Milton-Keynes-based team cannot bear to continue with Perez’ poor form.

He’s got a contract for next year. That’s the only thing Sergio can say. But on this performance? If this is his level now? Red Bull cannot take that into next year.

Red Bull currently stands third in the constructors’ championship behind Ferrari and McLaren. The six-time race winner’s inability to perform has been a major reason for the team’s slump this year. The team will now evaluate and find solutions to Perez’s struggles and provide improvements for the same.
