The 24 hours of Le Mans was recently conducted with Ferrari winning the race. Racing in the WEC is a dream of several motorsport drivers due to its highly interesting racing format. Multiple Formula 1 drivers such as Nelson Piquet Jr, and Daniil Kvyat have raced in the WEC after leaving the pinnacle of motor racing. Hence, even Sergio Perez highlighted his dream to have a go in the 24 hours of Le Mans once in his lifetime.

Red Bull was recently under fire after they ignored the 24 hours of Le Mans and claimed that the entire week was a non-race week. Regardless, this didn’t stop the team’s driver Sergio Perez from showcasing his love for the WEC. The 34-year-old reckoned that the only race that caught his attention was the 24 hours of Le Mans.

The only race that catches my attention is Le Mans.
Sergio Perez said, as reported by mundodeportivo.

Additionally, Perez felt that racing in Formula 1 wasn’t enough for his motorsport career. The Mexican driver needed a potential shift of pace from racing in the fastest single-seater challengers. Hence, the 34-year-old added that Le Mans was an event that a driver would ‘dream’ about racing in. As a result, Perez’s potential switch to the WEC after his F1 retirement wouldn’t be the most shocking news.

However, the 34-year-old did mention that not many motorsport categories came to his mind to replace F1. Regardless, the sport would likely stay at the top spot for many more years to come in terms of numbers. Subsequently, Perez reiterated how Le Mans was the only race that caught his attention.

I haven't thought about other categories. The only race that catches my attention is Le Mans.
Sergio Perez concluded.

Sergio Perez’s current focus would need to be on Formula 1 and helping Red Bull maintain the lead over rivals. The team is facing a performance slump with the RB20 chassis and its issues in the recent races. As a result, the 34-year-old will need to perform to consider a late-career switch to Le Mans after retiring from the pinnacle of motorsport.
