Red Bull‘s lead in the constructor’s standings has shrunk to mere single digits in the past few races. The blame for this sudden slump has often been put on Sergio Perez, due to his inability to score points despite having a car that had won races previously. However, these claims have had no impact on the Mexican’s fanbase as they have defended him from such criticism. This led Perez to recognize his fans’ faith in him and appreciate their gesture.

Sergio Perez had a tough climb to the world of F1. He has had to beat multiple stereotypes on his way to make his debut in the championship and remained a mid-field driver for most of his career. However, after he made the jump to Red Bull in 2021, he has been accused of being unworthy of the seat at Milton Keynes due to his declining results, and multiple experts have reckoned him as a liability for the Austrian outfit.

The love from the fans is incredible and I notice when someone speaks badly of me, millions of people come out defending me. It's something that I appreciate a lot because you know you're not alone.
Sergio Perez said in an interview with Grupo Fórmula

Subsequently, Perez commended his fans’ gesture as they showed unwavering faith in him. He reckoned that millions of fans came out defending, which made him feel that he was not alone in the fight to prove his worth on the grid.

Sergio Perez emphasized the importance of never giving up

Perez’s career has been filled with huge struggles. The 34-year-old had witnessed his future crumble in front of his eyes when Aston Martin sacked him in favor of Sebastian Vettel. However, he gave his all till the last race of the 2020 season and won his maiden Grand Prix after 190 race starts.

The six-time race winner admitted that he has always had to deal with pressure in his career but has never succumbed to it.

The pressure is always there, it's normal but I give my 100%. Sometimes I win the race, sometimes I finish last but the important thing is to keep going, to not give up. In the end I'll look back and say I had the opportunity to have this career and it’s because I have never given up.
Sergio Perez said in an interview with Grupo Fórmula

Perez explained that he gives his 100 percent every time he gets into the cockpit. Though sometimes he wins a race or sometimes he finishes last, he always remembers to not give up, as his career was born out of this mindset only.

While the Mexican has faith in himself, his results do not convey the same. Moreover, McLaren is closing up rapidly in both the championships which could be attributed to his declining results. Keeping everything in view, he would have to get back on pace soon as Red Bull risks losing major ground in the championship by the end of the season.
