Red Bull driver Sergio Perez has shared his thoughts on McLaren’s recent surge in performances this season. The Woking-based team currently leads the constructors’ championship by 20 points to Perez’s team.
McLaren’s pace in the MCL38 has been formidable since the Miami GP this year. The Papayas have zoomed past their rivals on multiple occasions with surprising ease, which has given rise to doubts in the minds of many. Some claim that the MCL38 uses an illegal rear wing that contributes to additional pace.

Sergio Perez has also spoken about this issue, saying that the Woking-based team’s car does not conform to the regulations. Perez is baffled that McLaren is being allowed to function with the alleged illegal part.
It's clear that it's out of the regulation. It's an illegal car. But it seems like it is allowed. I'm very surprised.Sergio Perez spoke ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix

Regardless of whether the setup in the MCL38 is illegal or not, McLaren continues to benefit from the MCL38’s increased pace. The upcoming races might show a change in fortunes for them but until now they appear as the favorites to clinch the constructors’ title.
McLaren teases upgrades for MCL38 after staggering victory in Baku
McLaren’s Andrea Stella has praised his team for their achievements so far this year. The Papayas have now won two of the last three races, taking over the lead of the championship for the first time in over a decade.

We are definitely working on upgrades for this season. We are now finalizing this. I don’t want to disclose too much in terms of what and when, but we do have a plan to make the car faster.Andrea Stella via motorsportweek
Andrea Stella has revealed that his team is working on bringing more upgrades in order to cement their chances going forward. The Italian refrains from making a detailed statement but is confident of his team’s capabilities.
The 2024 constructors’ championship is witnessing a three-way battle for the title between Red Bull, Ferrari, and McLaren. Only 50 points separate the top three, which will make the upcoming races an exciting affair for fans around the world.
