Red Bull driver Sergio Perez has been the talk of the town since landing in Mexico City for the 2024 Mexican GP. He is the home hero at the event and to make it even more special, he has recently revealed a special race helmet.
Sergio Perez wore the extremely aesthetic helmet during yesterday’s practice sessions. He will also, be seen repping the same during the main 71-lap Grand Prix. Moreover, he has insisted that the helmet is a tribute to the lucha-libre culture in Mexico.
Via a Red Bull post, the 34-year-old talked in detail about the helmet.
The high-flying wrestling has been very much embedded in the Mexican culture for a long time. Especially the lucha-libre style that fans greatly enjoy all over the globe. Perez is also a fan of the craft and thus, has gone for a helmet that shows his gratitude toward the lucha-libre wrestlers.

Sergio Perez is hoping for an extremely fruitful weekend in front of his home fans in Mexico City. However, this might not prove to be the case, especially keeping in view his thoughts after the Friday practice sessions.
Perez sounded a bit down following a tough on-track outing on Friday.
During the 2024 F1 season, Sergio Perez has only managed to amass 150 points so far. He is behind Mercedes’ George Russell in eighth place in the driver’s standings.
For this reason, he has come under immense pressure to lose the seat for the 2025 F1 season. RB drivers Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson are the front runners for the seat and considering this, it is high time that Perez starts putting in consistent performances until the end of the season. Otherwise, he could be without a seat for next year.
