Red Bull driver Sergio Perez has talked about the pressure and challenges faced by drivers while competing in Formula 1. Perez is currently on a poor spell, scoring merely 24 points in the last seven races for his team.
Sergio Perez‘s troubles have been persistent ever since the start of the 2023 season. The Mexican has failed to pose any viable threat in the world championship against the top outfits on the grid.

Perez has opened up about the challenges of being a driver for Red Bull in light of his mediocre spell. The 34-year-old argued that being a driver for a reputed team means he has greater exposure to criticism in comparison to others.
I think when you look at it there have been other drivers who have had a similar period of bad races, but it’s not so noticeable. I think at Red Bull there is a lot of talk all the time in the media and the scrutiny, and it’s probably worse for the Red Bull drivers, definitely.Sergio Perez told PlanetF1
Red Bull offered the 34-year-old a contract extension this year, despite his lackluster run. However, the team will judge his ability to perform for the remaining races in 2024 to make a concrete decision about his future for 2025.
Red Bull could do a ‘better job’ to fight in 2024
Red Bull Technical Director Pierre Wache talked of the shortfalls with the RB20 in comparison to their championship-winning RB19. Wache claimed that the team failed to improve on persistent issues despite making changes this season.

RB20 is a better car than RB19 – however, maybe we could do a better job and that’s what we are trying to fix for the end of the season and for next year, to give the drivers a better tool to be able to fight.Pierre Wache via PlanetF1
Wache deemed the RB20 a worthy successor to the RB19 but was dissatisfied with the efforts of the team this year. The Frenchman, however, also backed the abilities of the personnel at Red Bull to make better efforts for the RB20 in the second half of the season.
Red Bull lead the championship this season as well but their dominance has not been utterly prevalent on track. The Milton-Keynes-based outfit has struggled numerously against the likes of McLaren, who trail the leaders by only 42 points.
