Sergio Perez is currently in a struggling position in F1 for Red Bull, having scored only 111 points in ten races for the team. Perez is now on a hunt for wins and podiums to compensate for the points lost, as he expects a better performance in the upcoming race in Austria.

Christian Horner speaks on the importance of Sergio Perez in Red Bull

Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner has spoken on the importance of requiring Sergio Perez to be in form for the betterment of the team. Perez has been one of the weak links this season and is currently far behind Max Verstappen in the championship.

We need Checo [Perez] in the mix. He knows that and the team know that. If he's on the back end of the top eight, you lose strategic options, whether you split your strategies and so on. Checo in the first four or five races this year was fantastic. We just need to get him back into that headspace.

Christian Horner said that Perez was in fine form for the first five races of the season, which helped Red Bull score points handsomely. Horner further asserted that the Mexican is required to get into the same headspace as he was in during the start of the season to put back the woes of the past races and flourish going forward.

Perez signed a contract extension with Red Bull earlier this season, which keeps him on the team until the end of 2026. However, if the 34-year-old fails to deliver expected results, he is susceptible to being replaced mid-way through his contract, which is an anomaly that the six-time race winner will be looking to avoid.
