Red Bull had started the 2024 season off in great form. However, the challenger has been struggling to score good results in the recent few races. Sergio Perez didn’t have one of the best starts to the season. The Mexican driver has failed to take on a lead in the runner-up place in the drivers’ championship. As a result, there were doubts over Perez’s future with Milton Keynes from the coming season.

Sergio Perez ran the risk of being replaced by Carlos Sainz amidst failing performances. Regardless, the 34-year-old had faith in the Austrian constructor to provide him with a contract extension. Previously there were rumors of Red Bull providing the Mexican with a one-year extension. However, Perez had faith in himself and made a counterargument of extending the contract for two more years.

Sergio Perez’s demand for a contract for two additional years has been officially accepted by Red Bull. The Mexican driver will race for the constructor in the new set of regulations as well. Hence, Max Verstappen and Perez will continue to take Red Bull to new heights in the pinnacle of motorsport. Apart from this, with the 34-year-old’s confirmation with Milton Keynes, doubts will now linger over Carlos Sainz’s future in Formula 1.

Sergio Perez ‘delighted’ to continue with Red Bull amidst doubtful future with the team

Sergio Perez would be one of the happiest people with the two-year contract extension. Perez claimed that he was ‘really happy’ to commit his future to the great crew at Red Bull. Additionally, the Mexican highlighted that racing for the Austrian team was a challenge like no other. Hence, the 34-year-old reiterated that he was delighted over the entire ordeal and to continue to contribute to Red Bull’s legacy in F1.

Perez highlighted that he loved the ‘challenge’ of racing at Red Bull alongside Verstappen. The 34-year-old ushered his full faith in the team’s capabilities to develop down the season. Additionally, the Mexican driver thanked the team for having faith in him and providing him with a contract extension for two more seasons. Finally, Perez noted that the team had a lot of work to do in regards to the RB20 challenger for ending the season on a high.

Being part of the Team is an immense challenge, and one I love. We have a great challenge this year and I have full trust in the whole Team that the future is bright here and I am excited to be part of it. I want to thank everyone for all the trust they are putting in me.

Sergio Perez will continue to battle on track to move up the pecking order in the drivers’ championship. Perez currently finds himself in the fifth spot in the championship and will soon need to come up. Red Bull has continued to provide the drivers with the best opportunities possible. Hence, the Mexican driver will need to start scoring well to end the 2024 season on a high note and provide crucial information for the coming seasons.
