The Las Vegas GP is one of the most hyped races on the Formula 1 calendar. This year’s Grand Prix witnesses a new Race Director. Rui Marques took the reign as of Race Direction from Niels Wittich for the final three races and beyond. However, Marques allegedly has done an embarrassing act during his first race.

Marques was reportedly spotted by fans on the circuit on Saturday. The Race Director got out of the Safety Car at the middle of the track. In the clip posted on Instagram, it can be seen that Rui Marques seemingly threw a piece on paper on the side before getting back inside the car.

George Russell happy with Rui Marques’ first Drivers’ briefing as Race Director

Formula 1 drivers are currently facing tensions with the FIA. The Grand Prix Drivers’ Association even released a statement targeting the sports governing body. However, GPDA Chief George Russell highlighted that the drivers were satisfied with Rui Marques’ first meeting as Race Director. Russell even revealed that Marques accepted a suggestion and made a change after the meeting.

Positive, to be honest… For example, a number of drivers spoke about the track limits at turn four. We felt it was a little bit unnecessary on a street circuit and he made a change to it in the moment.

George Russell said, as reported by Motorsport.com

Rui Marques needs to keep drivers happy to ensure that the recent tensions subside. The FIA Race Director faces a tough period ahead of him. However, things could go smoothly if Marques manages a controversy-free final three races.
