Jeb Burton suffered from a disappointing end to his night at the Gateway Playoff race for the Xfinity Series. Burton’s woes began early on Friday after he could only achieve a P19 start for the Xfinity Series Race at the WWTR. The No.27 driver also couldn’t fare well in the main race at Gateway and ended his race early following a violent wreck that ultimately ended up in flames.
The Gateway race was Jeb Burton‘s final chance to make the cut for the NASCAR Xfinity playoffs via points standings. However, mid-way through the race, Burton suffered from an unfortunate tire failure in his No.27 Chevrolet and lost control of the car. Subsequently, he slammed hard into the wall, which caused him to DNF from the race and lose crucial running in his playoff ambitions.
Jeb Burton’s tire failure and subsequent spinout while exiting Turn 2 had some very severe consequences, as the crash was a big one. The No.27 Chevrolet immediately caught fire as Burton was then rushed out of the car to save himself from any untoward injuries. Burton was then rushed to the infield medical center and promptly released after being cleared of any major injuries.
Following the fiery wreck, Jeb Burton failed to make up the 31-point deficit to his cousin, Harrison Burton, in the points standings, thus ending his chances of making the playoffs. The cousin went on to put forth a solid performance and secure his spot in the playoffs. Meanwhile, the No.27 driver suffered from a DNF and walked out of the race weekend on a massively disappointing note.

Jeb Burton claims that the Gateway DNF ‘just sucks’
Jeb Burton was able to save himself from any major injuries and walk out of the car and get checked up at the medical center. The 33-year-old was healthy enough to comment on the incident and his thoughts regarding the unfortunate wreck that caused him to call it quits early. Burton insisted that the entire situation ‘sucked’ for him, especially after the crew worked hard for the Gateway race.

Speaking on the disappointing circumstances at Gateway, Jeb Burton reflected that he and his team struggled in the short run the entire day, despite the long-run speed looking positive for them. Burton emphasized that he hated the situation that his crew had to go through following his fiery wreck.
The 33-year-old added that he did not feel good about the entire situation, but he is already looking forward to the upcoming Bristol race and salvaging whatever’s left of the 2025 season.
We struggled a little bit on the short run today, but our long run speed was pretty good. Just hate it for my guys – wanted to not get a DNF, but that was out of our control. That was a hard hit. Definitely didn’t feel good … But yeah, just sucks, but we’ll go on to Bristol next week.

Despite a discouraging outing at Gateway, Jeb Burton still has a chance to achieve his maiden victory in the 2025 season. The season still has over seven races left, and Burton can give it his all in the final few races. However, the 33-year-old will definitely not be a contender for the Xfinity Series championship after losing the position to his cousin at the Gateway race.
