The Canadian GP is underway. Red Bull has had a difficult outing in Montreal so far. Sergio Perez was eliminated after Q1 on Saturday after a dismal run. While Max Verstappen struggled with issues during the session. Unfortunately, things went from bad to worse for Checo in the main race on Sunday.
Sergio Perez started the race in P16. It was thus no surprise that the Mexican driver faced visibility issues due to the massive spray from the cars in front due to the wet conditions. Perez made his way through Turn 1 but soon made contact with Pierre Gasly‘s Alpine.
Perez went on the inside of Gasly heading following the first corner. However, The 34-year-old misjudged the situation as he ended up making contact with the French driver. So much so, that Pierre Gasly’s Alpine A524 went sideways after this surprising collision. Sergio Perez’s car went on to the grass for a moment before returning to tarmac.

Sergio Perez struggling with wet conditions at Canadian GP
The Canadian GP witnessed heavy rain before the start of the race. 18 of the 20 drivers chose the intermediate driver for the race start. While the two Haas cars took the full-wets. Ultimately, Sergio Perez and the rest of the intermediate runners suffered from a lack of grip in the wet conditions.
The track did start to dry after a few laps with the Haas cars pitting for the intermediate tires. However, Sergio Perez informed the Red Bull crew that he was still struggling with wet patches across the circuit. The Mexican driver was stuck in fifteenth place despite having one of the quickest cars on the grid.

Certainly, Perez would be hoping to improve and make up a few places in the course of the race. However, it seems that rain could return by the latter half of the Grand Prix. As such, Sergio Perez might be in for a rather long and difficult drive in Montreal to grab some crucial points for Red Bull.
