Scuderia Ferrari has recently had a major shake-up in the team’s strategy department, under the leadership of new Team Principal Frederic Vasseur. The incumbent Sporting and Strategic direction, Inaki Rueda, has received immense backlash in 2022. Subsequently, Vassuer has decided to promote Ravin Jain as the new strategic chief at Maranello.

Ravin Jain will spearhead a revamped strategic team at Ferrari. The Scuderia was severely criticized for major strategic errors last year. Although, then-Team Principal, Mattia Binotto had taken responsibility on behalf of the team. However, Frederic Vassuer has taken a bold step to shift Inaki Rueda to a factory position from the F1 pit wall. Subsequently, race strategy engineer, Jain has been responsible for leading the Prancing Horse’s strategic decisions.

Ravin will have to deal with heavy pressure from the higher-ups at Maranello. Many have believed Ferrari’s below-par strategies to be a significant factor in Charles Leclerc’s unsuccessful title campaign in 2022. The Scuderia now has an evolved working atmosphere formed by Binotto. However, remains to be seen the kind of approach Fred Vasseur takes in leading F1’s most successful team to Glory.

Jain has worked in the race strategy department for years at Ferrari

Ravin Jain is a British race engineer for Ferrari. Jain is of Indian origin but was brought up in England. The 26-year-old has an undergraduate degree in Physics from Oxford. Additionally, Ravin also has a master’s in Mathematical and Theoretical Physics from the same institute. Jain has been a stable part of Scuderia Ferrari since 2015.

Although, his first taste of Formula 1 started two years prior with a now-defunct team. Ravin Jain first got the opportunity to work in F1 with the now-defunct Caterham team in 2013 as a summer job in the role of data processing. Later on, the 26-year-old moved to Williams for the following year. At Williams, he was part of the software design group for the strategy team.

Finally, in 2015, Ravin got the opportunity to join Ferrari as part of the strategy team in another summer job. Jain decided to stay with the Italian team full-time after his post-graduation. Notably, the British-Indian engineer had also contributed to the mathematical modeling group for Maranello.

Thus, Ravin Jain has decent experience at the pit wall. The 26-year-old now has the uphill task of managing the strategies at Scuderia Ferrari. Jain must work with his team to ensure that Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are not on the back foot during races. Certainly, this is a sign of a new era at Maranello, where Fred Vasseur is trying to take the Prancing Horse back to victory.
