India’s Jehan Daruvala heads to Hungary eyeing seventh podium finish of the season
Jehan Daruvala is poised to get his first taste of an F1 car with McLaren this week.
Jehan Daruvala bagged his sixth podium finish of the season in France last week. F2 heads to the Hungary GP, which will be the final race of the season, before the summer break.
Indian racer Jehan Daruvala heads to Hungary’s Hungaroring race track this weekend looking for his seventh top-three finish this season, as he bids to go into the summer break with another strong showing.
The 23-year-old chalked up his sixth podium of the season last week in France when he finished second in Saturday’s Sprint race, the fifth time this year he has finished in the runner-up spot.
Having followed that up with a charging drive that secured him a strong points-paying finish in Sunday’s Feature event, the three-time F2 winner will be looking to leave Hungary with another big haul.

“The Hungaroring is a track that I really enjoy” : Jehan Daruvala
According to a press release, Jehan Daruvala is excited with the prospect of racing at the Hungary GP. He compares the circuit to the Monaco GP, with the twists and turns on offer.
“The Hungaroring is a track that I really enjoy. While it is a purpose-built circuit, its tight, twisting corners have a street-track feel to them, making it very similar to Monaco. Of course that means overtaking is always difficult here and qualifying will be absolutely crucial this weekend. We know that’s an area we need to improve on but we’re working hard to make that step up so we can fight at the front in the Feature race on Sunday,” said Jehan in a press release.
Jehan, who is a member of the Red Bull Junior Team, has raced at the 4.3-km long track on the outskirts of Budapest several times in his career. He finished second at the track while racing in Formula Renault in 2016 and followed that up with a third-placed finish in European Formula 3 in 2017.
He also scored a double points finish at the venue in his first F2 season in 2020. The track was absent from the F2 calendar last year.
The Hungarian round, which will run as a support event to the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix, is the last before the series takes its annual summer break.
The season will then resume at the end of August at Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
