FA Cup 2020/21 : Manchester City win 2-0 against Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton in the quarterfinals

Manchester City defeated Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton by two goals to nil in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup to progress through to the next round. It wasn’t an impressive performance from Pep Guardiola’s men but they still managed to pull through. Kevin De Bruyne cane on for just ten minutes and was involved in both the goals!
Kevin De Bruyne makes the difference for Manchester City
It’s safe to say that Joao Virginia, the goalkeeper of Everton had a really good game despite conceding in the end. He managed to tip away Raheem Sterling’s strike at the hour mark in an elastic save. Despite Manchester City’s possession they couldn’t break down the Evertonian defence and created very less.
Yerry Mina had the best opportunity for Everton but his goal bound effort was cleared off by left back Zinchenko.
The main difference was created by Kevin De Bruyne who came on as a substitute and totally changed the face of the game.
Manchester City finally broke through and broke the deadlock as Aymric Laporte slipped in a ball from the left to Kevin De Bruyne whose shot was firstly brilliantly saved by Virginia. However the rebound effort was put in by Ilkay Gundogan.
The second goal went to the creator of the first goal. Yerry Mina’s poor clearance fell towards Rodri who passed it to De Bruyne. Kevin De Bruyne cut into his left foot and struck the ball sweetly to send the goal rippling.
Pep Guardiola’s men still have the chance of securing a quadruple this season after tonight’s win. Guardialo was visibly pleased after passing a difficult test.
“It was real tough … we saw their commitment and how focused they were … they were aggressive in the good sense of the world … always the long balls … Calvert-Lewin so strong … every throw is a corner, so really tough … but we were patient and at the end we won it … it was one of the toughest games we have played in the last year … there were eight players there with two waiting for counter attacks, it’s so difficult … it is an incredibly huge victory for us … everybody plays at a good level … I am looking forward to everybody coming back safe [from international duty].”
