FA Cup: Manchester City vs Fulham player ratings as Guardiola’s side progresses for the next round after beating Fulham by 4-1

Manchester City defeated Fulham by 4-1 as they progress to the next round.

Premier League table-toppers Manchester City locked horns with Marco Silva’s high-flying Fulham side in the fourth round of FA Cup. Guardiola’s side ingressed the football pitch as a clear favorite and they displayed the prowess of their squad depth by fielding a very strong starting eleven.

Manchester City came out as a winner as they defeated Silva’s Fulham by 4-1. Stones, Gundogan, and Mahrez appeared on the scoresheet for Manchester City while Fabio Carvalho scored for Fulham. Fulham started the game well and scored very early, but as the game went on the home side showed their quality and turned the tide.

Zack Steffan 6/10

Steffan could not do much about Carvalho’s goal as it was more of a defensive error. However, he should have done better when dealing with Kabano’s shot as the rebound fell at the feet of Carvalho who could have scored. His distribution was overall good as the pass success rate was high.

Kyle Walker 6/10

He had the time of struggle early in the game when Carvalho and Kabano were trying to launch attacks from his side. However, as the game progressed he grew into the game and made some good interceptions.

John Stones 7/10

Some of the lobbed balls he sent to Grealish and Foden on both flanks were very impressive. He gave Manchester City the lead after connecting with De Bruyne’s delivery.

Nathan Ake 6/10

Ake, who has been short of game time recently, was good on the ball; however, he had his little time of struggle while battling with Mitrovic. He failed to track the movement of Carvalho in the first goal.

Joao Cancelo 6.5/10

He misjudged Harry Wilson’s movement which contributed to Carvalho’s first goal. Later on he improved on going forward and contributed to attack from his flank.

Fernandinho 6.5/10

The Brazilian was a good physical presence in Man City’s midfield. He won a majority of his duels while shielding the backline.

Ilkay Gundogan 7/10

Gundogan was very lively throughout the game. He equalised the scored just after two minutes from Fulham’s goal which set the tone for the home side. He had a great chance to score again when Grealish set him up with some good footwork.

Kevin De Bruyne 7.5/10

He showed his quality on the pitch as he provided two assists and created many good chances. He set Stones for the first goal and provided the left-footed perfect weighted pass for the fourth goal.

Riyad Mahrez 7.5/10

The Algerian dispatched from the twelve yards to extend the lead. Further, he went on to score Manchester City’s fourth goal after connecting with De Bruyne’s pass.

Jack Grealish 7/10

Former Aston Villa talisman was very lively near the box. His good little footwork earned City a penalty. He was constant threat throughout the game

Phil Foden 6.5/10

He was combining well with the Belgian in the midfield and on the left wing to cause some problems to Fulham. However, he could not a direct contribution in terms of goal or assist.

Got some minutes under his belt. He did his work after coming on as he tried to keep the ball on his wing while looking for some good opportunities for sending crosses.

Raheem Sterling 5.5/10

He wasn’t involved much after coming as he had very few touches. The game was already put to the bed when he came on.

Paul Gazzaniga 5/10

He had very little conviction while dealing with the set pieces. He failed to track Gundogan’s movement for the first goal. His ball distribution was good but could not save any of the goals.

Had a very good start to the game; however as the game went on he gave the ball a lot of times and going forward, he could not send enough deliveries for Mitrovic.

Had a decent first half as he made some good tackles to keep his team in the game. However, in the second half City’s quality was on display and he could not prevent the goals.

He won the ball from De Bruyne with conviction to stop his runs. However, he lost most of his ground and aerial duels ascity’s attack excelled as the game went on.

Joe Bryan 6.5/10

In terms of going forward and combining with his fellow attackers, he was pretty impressive. He made some good clearances to keep the game on and he was not at fault for any of the goals.

Harrison Reed 5.5/10

He could not affect the game from the midfield as City won the midfield battles. He was at fault for Mahrez’s second and Manchester City’s fourth goal of the day.

Neeskens Kabano 6.5/10

Kabano, surprisingly enjoyed a lot of ball on the left flank; especially in the starting minutes. He had his duels with Walker; some were successful while some were not. He tried to combine with Mitro and Carvalho on the left in order to inject some creativity into Fulham’s play.

Fabio Carvalho 7/10

The English prodigy gave a dream start to his side after putting the ball in the back of the net with a neat finish from the close by meeting Wilson’s cross after just four minutes from start. He has attracted a lot of spotlights recently after getting linked to a move to Liverpool.

Harry Wilson 6.5/10

Former Liverpool player Wilson sent a very good low delivery from the right flank to Carvalho for their goal. However later he did not get much service n the right flank and he could not directly affect the game.

Alexander Mitrovic 6/10

The striker gave away needless fouls on many occasions. He did not get much of a service and especially from set-pieces as his heading ability is his strenghth. However, when he was on the ball he could not create much.

He did not enjoy his spell after coming on as he lost many duels and got very few touches.
