Liverpool fans can heave an almighty sigh of relief as manager Jurgen Klopp finally has the opportunity to choose from a stacked squad. Having been hit with injuries terribly this season, Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp have had to make do with the players that were fit and having to play midfielders as defenders. Now Liverpool enter the business end of the season with a strong squad that also has good bench options and will get to welcome missing Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson at the end of this season.
Jurgen Klopp will be able to field a centre-back pairing with Fabinho back in defence
Jurgen Klopp has the options to choose from Ozan Kabak, Nathaniel Phillips, Ben Davies and Rhys Williams as his centre-backs. Ozan Kabak and Nathaniel Phillips formed a good partnership against Sheffield United as the former was good in ground tackles while the latter was good aerially. Alternatively even Ben Davies could be given some minutes against RB Leipzig seeing that he is an experienced defender.
The main point of attraction is that defensive midfielder Fabinho can go back to the midfield for the first time since October. He is a midfielder who is one of the best in the world to disrupt opponent attacks. His return to the midfield could allow Thiago and Curtis Jones to bomb forward even further and add numbers to the attack up top. Curtis Jones was excellent against Sheffield United as a No.8 and could potentially repeat that role against Chelsea tomorrow.
Whatever the case, Liverpool now have an almost full squad to choose from as they fight with their lives for Champions League qualification.
