Fabregas voices his displeasure with Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola built probably the greatest club team of all time with Barcelona between 2009 to 2012. The club accumulated a record 14 trophies during his tenure. However, Guardiola wanted things to go his way and this resulted in him upsetting quite a few players. Fabregas only played one season with Pep after coming from Arsenal in 2011. But this was the only season in which Barcelona didn’t win any trophies and thus led to a frosty relationship between the coach and the players.
I don’t know if the disappointment with Pep is mutual – Fabregas

Fabregas revealed that he hasn’t been in contact with Guardiola ever since the coach left Barcelona. Moreover, speaking to CCMA, Fabregas added, “I don’t know if the disappointment with Pep is mutual. Things happened, but I prefer not to talk about it. Pep was my idol since I was a child. It is from him that I have learned the most, perhaps, since I was four until now.”
Fabregas stayed until 2014 at Barcelona and performed fairly well. However, he couldn’t cement his place in the side with the holy trident of Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets ahead of him. The expectations on him to be the next great midfielder was too much and this bogged him down. However, Mourinho offered him a escape from Barca and asked him to join Chelsea. The rest is the stuff of legends as Fabregas played a crucial role in getting the Premier League Title back to Chelsea. The player got a whopping 24 assists that season as he went on to win his first Premier League Title.
Thus, Fabregas has huge respect for Mourinho and speaking about him said, “He told me about his project. I had to go where I thought I would do best, the decision was mine and it didn’t depend on what people said. I prioritized the professional aspect, and today I still write to him and I consider him a friend. He helped me a lot at a difficult time in my career and perhaps I played one of my best seasons with him.”
