With Kirk Cousins in the lead and Michael Penix Jr. as backup, the Atlanta Falcons are geared up for the upcoming season. This offseason, the franchise has focused on powering up the offseason with weapons along with a few adjustments in the coaching staff as well.

Despite the quarterback controversy when the Falcons drafted Penix Jr. using the eighth overall pick, the starting position is held by Cousins with new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson. With the quarterback room sorted, the franchise has big plans for the running back corps, most particularly second-year RB Bijan Robinson

After a solid offseason, Robinson expressed that he would be a crucial part of the Falcons’ offense in the way star RB Christian McCaffrey is for the San Francisco 49ers. Talking to the media on Monday, the 2023 first-round pick revealed how OC Zach intends to use him in 2024.

I'm gonna be more of a runner that does everything else. I don't know what the plan is, but it's like run first, like I did in college, but still having that access to go to receiver, still having that access to do creative things out the backfield.

More so like how they use Christian [McCaffrey] down there in San Francisco. Something like that, that's kind of what the plan is.

McCaffrey is well known for being the NFL’s most versatile player for many years now. Last season, as he led the league with 1,459 yards along with catching 67 passes for 584 yards– he was the top non-QB runner to win the NFL MVP honor. Therefore, keeping him as the pinnacle for broadening the skill sets does make sense for the Falcons’ OC.

Over the last decade, the NFL’s game of offense has transformed and brought more focus to the passing game. But under Matt Ryan, the biggest concern for the Falcons was the passing game and its decline in production. This put the burden of the offense on the running backs.

But since Zach joined as the new offensive coordinator, running back Bijan as the RB no. 1, and Cousins as the starting, the offense is all set to dominate the NFC.

The strong suit of the 49ers’ gameplay is the star-studded players in the offense, but now the conference rival Atlanta is getting into the mindset of how the Niners strategize the offense, they are ready for a showdown in 2024.
