Fan details how Cody Rhodes’ career-defining WWE moment drove him out of depression and suicid*l thoughts
A fan on X jotted down his struggles that he was able to live through solely because he'd wanted to see Cody Rhodes finish his story.

When Cody Rhodes pinned Roman Reigns‘ shoulders to the mat at WrestleMania XL, a wave of euphoria muffled the attendees. A Rhodes had never been there, which made it even more special when Cody did it. He gazed at the night sky as if his late father were looking down. Cody’s story resonated on a personal level with a then-depressed fan.
He recently took to X to come up with his side of the story. As mentioned by him, his mental health between October 2023 and mid-2024 was at its worst due to the reasons he chose not to talk about publicly. It only exacerbated in the meantime to the point where he developed suicid*l ideations.
However, the only thing that kept him hanging by a thread was Cody Rhodes‘ story. By the time WrestleMania XL was on, the said fan was in a much better mental state. And now he’s happy in life. In its epilogue, he wrote, no matter how dramatic it may sound, Rhodes saved his life.
That sight of Roman’s title reign coming to a halt at the 1316-day mark is one of the greatest WWE moments ever. Also, Reigns vs. Rhodes part II was voted the WWE match of the year, overshadowing CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre inside Hell in a Cell. The ramifications of that epic Mania bout are still in effect.
Since then, Reigns has lost a ton of equity around WWE. His previous enforcer, Solo Sikoa, is now the Tribal Chief of a whole new Bloodline. To add to it, if The Rock‘s schedule permits, he’ll be back to challenge Cody for the Undisputed WWE title at WrestleMania 41. But that’s up in the air for now.
For how long can Cody Rhodes go all out as a wrestler?
Since returning to WWE at WrestleMania 38, Cody Rhodes has been a full-timer. He’s someone the fans are most likely to find competing on almost every house show in a calendar year. But how long does he intend to do it at this level?
While speaking on “2 Bears 1 Cave”, The American Nightmare said he doesn’t plan on wrestling full time past 45. He’s currently 39 years old. That means the former AEW EVP is expected to continue putting in the hard yards for another half-decade.
He’d then tone it down in the mid-40s, depending on how his body feels. The Prodigal Son is currently enmeshed in a feud with Kevin Owens. The latter snapped after Saturday Night’s Main Event. As things stand, Rhodes vs. Owens for the Undisputed and Winged Eagle titles is set for the Royal Rumble in a ladder match.
