Ahead of Saturday’s college football game between the Baylor Bears and Colorado Buffaloes, wrestling stars descended on the Folsom Field. Having said that, WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg met reigning Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker, and the two posed for the cameras. The image was posted by WWE on their official X handle.
The former WCW Champion shares a personal bond with Breakker. For the unversed, Goldberg’s been good friends with Bron’s patriarchs, the Steiner Brothers. Bill has already stressed how much he adores Bron Breakker‘s in-ring prowess. And why not? After all, he’s a Steiner offspring.
Even though Goldberg’s previous WWE run had a major communication breakdown, he continues to be mentioned on WWE programming. One need not stroll way down the memory lane for that, as he was recently brought up on Monday Night Raw.
A couple of weeks ago, WWE was in Calgary. The local hero Bret Hart was on the show. He was interrupted by Gunther, who outright told The Hitman that Bill Goldberg was his favorite wrestler growing up. And just like that, the crowd went bonkers. It was something no one expected but cherished nonetheless.
Hart and Goldberg go back in the day. It’s not lost on anyone how passionately the Canadian great despises the 57-year-old. And when Gunther namedropped Goldberg in front of Bret, he couldn’t do more but cast a smirk.
Even though the former Universal Champion has apologized to Hart on various occasions about nailing his skull with a stiff kick in 1999, The Excellence of Execution, to this day, believes Goldberg did that on purpose. At one point, both were tag team champions. However, it’s just unfortunate where they stand today in terms of mutual respect.
Fans demand a retirement match for Goldberg against Bron Breakker
Wrestling fans seem amazed at how evenly matched Goldberg and Bron Breakker look in the aforementioned photo. In fact, they’ve started to tag WWE CCO Triple H about having the two men wrestle each other in WWE.
As it’s already in the public domain that The Icon hasn’t still gotten his retirement match, some fans believe a showdown with Breakker would be the perfect way for Bill to call it quits on his career.
Some even noted that the duo looks like a proud father grinning ear to ear at his son’s success. One fan even proposed Bret Hart to be the special guest referee for Goldberg vs. Breakker, in which the latter squashes the ‘Da Man’ in merely 10 seconds.
