Luka Doncic missed a clutch free throw after scoring an unreal three-pointer

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic embarrassingly missed the opportunity to sweep the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 4. After shooting poorly throughout the game, the star gave the Mavs fans hope but made one mistake that cost the team the game.

As the Minnesota Timberwolves had the lead for the entire second half of the fourth quarter, Luka Doncic shocked the viewers as he shot an unreal 29-foot three-pointer with 13.2 seconds left. To add the cherry on top to the incredible clutch moment, the star was also fouled by Anthony Edwards. However, to much disappointment, Doncic missed the free throw, which would have cut down the lead to two points.

Understandably, the fans on social media were upset by the play, and so was Doncic. The star looked visibly frustrated with himself as he lost the game despite putting up a triple-double performance. After that, Naz Reid extended the Timberwolves’ lead, but the Dallas Mavericks could not respond.

After dominating the Timberwolves‘ fourth quarters in the first three wins, the Mavericks had quite the opposite outing in the potential close-out game. The team had a significantly poor shooting performance, especially in the fourth. Doncic and P.J. Washington missed two huge three-pointers during clutch time. Since then, the free throw misses have become a topic of discussion on social media.

The Mavericks did not leave a chance to the Timberwolves throughout the series. However, the team just could not take control at their home court during Game 4. As Doncic has had an MVP-type run in the series, fans had high hopes for the star in the potential undefeated game. Despite showing his incredible range with the unbelievable shot from beyond the arc, the guard missing the free throw did not sit well with fans.

Doncic and the Mavericks have to avoid the mistakes made in Game 4 to secure the win on the road and eventually win the series.
