Fans responded to Thomas Muller’s message ahead of Bayern Munich’s anticipated UEFA Champions League fixture against Barcelona. The 34-year-old Bayern star took a subtle dig at the Catalan outfit, as well as their newly appointed manager Hansi Flick.
The clash between the two European giants has attracted fans’ attention over the past few years. The two teams will face off in the UCL’s new group stage format on 23 October, 2024 at the Camp Nou. Moreover, the Catalan club will be hoping to avoid yet another defeat at the hands of the Bavarian giants, having lost in their last six clashes, with the 2019-20 UCL quarter-final being the most infamous one. Hansi Flick was then in charge of the German side, when they humiliated Barcelona 8-2 in the quarter-finals in 2020.
The German manager has now shifted to the other side, as Thomas Muller shared a humorous message taking a dig at their opponents as well as Flick. The 34-year-old veteran, in a video, jokingly expressed excitement in reuniting with his old friend Hansi Flick, as well as the UCL’s new competition format. Muller’s record against Barcelona is overwhelming, having scored eight goals in nine matches. He also holds the record for being the highest goal-scorer against the Catalan side in the Champions League.
