Since Angel Reese burst onto the scene as a top-tier forward, she has been setting records in the WNBA. The Chicago Sky star has often cited Candace Parker, Lisa Leslie, and other great big women as inspiration.

Her elite motor helped her obliterate records that had stood for a long time. Reese’s rebounding skills are not a question mark, but her scoring is. Last season, multiple layup misses led to some pretty nasty trolling at the hands of fans.

This season, her field goal efficiency stands at 43.4%, which is an improvement over last season. However, a deep dive into her games reveals that she was shooting a paltry 30% over the first few games. That means her numbers have shot up over the past few weeks.

Such performances have netted her the WNBA’s Player of the Week award, as well as her 2nd All-Star selection. Despite all that, Candace Parker does not believe she is at the level of some of the best in the league.

I put her right at that C level. I think in terms of being above, you have to be able to have the ability to carry your team, be a 1 or 2 option. I think Angel Reese is fantastic at her role, which is offensive rebounding.

The 3-time champion believes Reese is yet to become the Chicago Sky’s No. 1 or 2 option. So far, Parker believes Reese has focused on offensive rebounding, which has helped her break those records.

Candace Parker terming Angel Reese just a rebounder angers fans

Candace Parker has been one of the best players in the history of the WNBA. On top of that, she works as a basketball analyst for TNT. Usually, her analysis is on point, and fans have never found an issue with it, unlike some of her peers on that network.

In this instance, basketball fans, particularly those who admire Angel Reese, did not appreciate the 39-year-old’s opinion. They believe Parker branding the Sky star as a rebounder and placing her in the lowest tiers was an injustice to what Reese has accomplished.

The 23-year-old has proven her worth as a capable scorer and facilitator this season. For Parker to ignore that did not sit well with WNBA fans. They took to social media to slam the Tennessee legend. Examples of those reactions are below.

It seems this was Candace Parker’s way of saying that Angel Reese has yet to reach the level of a top-tier talent. Her rebounding is off the charts, but unless her scoring starts to impact the Chicago Sky’s results, she will not be considered an elite player.

Candace Parker ranks Caitlin Clark 2 levels above Angel Reese

Since the complete clip of this ranking is not yet available on Complex’s social media pages, fans are uploading whatever they have access to. The most recent one was when Candace Parker ranked Caitlin Clark.

Caitlin Clark is at an A-level. I think in time she’s going to raise up to that S level. But in order to put her at that level, she’s got to have a couple of more years.

The 2-time league MVP believes the Indiana Fever guard is a couple of years away from reaching the same tier where A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, and Napheesa Collier stand. That means development is the only part stopping her from becoming the best.

This also ended up angering fans, as they believe the gap between Reese and Clark is not that wide. The latter’s struggles of late have also added weight to their opinion. Considering how this rivalry has developed over the years, such reactions are bound to continue.
