Claressa Shields made history by becoming the first boxer to win undisputed champion across three weight classes after defeating Danielle Perkins. The Ring’s pound-for-pound queen defended her WBC heavyweight title and won the vacant WBA, IBF, and WBO belts to claim the status. The historic bout went for ten rounds, and had some interesting moments, which captured the attention of fans. 

Both Shields and Perkins started off strong and landed several punches on each other. Nobody was willing to step back which resulted in some thrilling exchanges. In the third round, after getting hit by an overhand, Perkins resorted to clinching. This move forced the referee to interfere.

While getting separated from the referee, Perkins lost her balance landed on her back. She took help from the referee to stand up. However, the commentators noticed that the fighter hadn’t recovered, but was later saved by the bell.

Few fans thought that Perkins was dropped after taking the hit. However, with the referee helping her out, things were cleared. Accidents like this are very common in boxing, and are generally caused due to clinching. However, this particular instance was hilarious for the boxing fans.

Despite the initial punishment, Danielle Perkins was able to bounce back and landed a few heavy overhand strikes on Claressa Shields. It was enough to make ‘GWOAT’ lose her balance. However, after that, it was Shields who took the majority of the charge.

Just a few seconds before the final bell, Shields landed a powerful right. As such, she had a knockdown after her opponent fell to the ground. At the end of 10 rounds, Shields was announced the winner via unanimous decision. Here are some reactions from Perkins falling due to referee intervention. 

Holding a record of 15-0 with three knockouts, Shields has dominated multiple divisions, earning undisputed status at middleweight and super middleweight. Now, with the heavyweight belt, she has become one of the most successful boxers of all time.
