Virat Kohli was involved in one of the most controversial moments of the 2024 IPL. The Indian star played a delivery which was above his waist, leading to him getting caught. After reviewing it, the third umpire declared him out due to the trajectory and dip of the ball, leading to Kohli arguing with the umpires.

After the match, Harsha Bhogle came in support of the umpires and praised the technology used. He claimed the technology took the “allegations of bias or favoritism.” He was also happy with the IPL for measuring the length of a player’s toe-to-waist.

This tweet did not sit well with some fans, who accused Bhogle of biasness. Many Virat Kohli fans have argued that the commentator ran an agenda against Kohli and he just tweeted about this incident to fuel that. Meanwhile some fans agreed with him, adding that he “owned” Kohli’s fanbase.

Virat Kohli’s wicket has received many mixed opinions. Many have supported the umpire’s decision, claiming the delivery was a legal one. On the other side, fans believed the wrong decision was taken, especially as Kohli intercepted the ball on chest level. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain, Faf du Plessis, was not happy with the decision and let his thoughts known in the post-match presentation.

It was crazy, rules are rules. Virat and myself thought that the ball was higher than the waist. I guess they measured it from the popping crease, one team thinks it's high, the other doesn't. That's how the game goes at times.

Kohli was also seen having another heated argument with umpire Vinod Seshan. He tried to understand why he was given out and tried arguing his case.

RCB ended up losing the match by a run, with Mitchell Starc defending 21 in the last over. Now RCB will play Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on 25th April at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium. In their last encounter, SRH smashed 287 runs, the highest total in IPL history.
